Romantically speaking, in this private space, the artist splits the self into variety of second selves (alter egos). Sudakara ArtSpace presents “Sudamala: An Artistic Journey”, featuring works from 18 Balinese contemporary artists. The space displays artworks which are presented in the form of tangible ideas as well as their possibilities of more authentic explorations. As Wayan Kun Adnyana has put it, the art curator who wrote the essay for the exhibition, this exhibition is framed as a verification of an artist’s approach in questioning the artistic language. Sudamala: An artistic Journey follows the notion illustrated through the Sudamala myth wherein it teaches that cosmic harmony is achieved through consciously driven reciprocal state of purifying one another. In the sense of an artistic journey, the Sudamala myth is construed as the Artist’s process to achieve a comprehensive entity of concept, creativity, and work. The exhibition Sudamala: An artistic Journey also marks the introduction of Sudakara ArtSpace as a venue to appreciate art and to stimulate dialogue between Sudamala Suites & Villas, artists, curators, collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in art. This gallery desires to be actively involved in defining Sanur as a region that has the soul, or taksu as it known locally, to inspire its community and visitors to create, enjoy, and appreciate art even more. “We would like to present this space as a cultural oasis that can transfer the taksu to anyone who wishes to interact in Sudamala,” as Ben Subrata, owner of Sudamala Suites & Villas, highlights that the presence of the gallery is meant facilitate art and cultural activities that shall be held regularly in the Sudamala Suites & Villas.
