Sanur, Bali — Sudakara ArtSpace at Sudamala Resort, Sanur proudly presents Cycles & Journeys, a solo art exhibition by Balinese artist Nyoman Handi Yasa, inviting audiences to reflect on transformation, memory, and the enduring rhythm of life.
Cycles & Journeys traces Handi Yasa’s artistic path as a continuous process of return and renewal. Rather than following a linear narrative, the works unfold in spirals of revisiting, reworking, and reawakening. Through paintings, mixed-media canvases, and sculptural assemblages, the exhibition explores cycles of growth, rupture, healing, and rebirth—both personal and universal.
Known for his use of reclaimed wood, rusted iron, and found objects, Handi Yasa treats material not as passive matter but as living carriers of memory. Cracks, stains, and traces of human touch become integral elements of the work, transformed into new forms and meanings. Colour plays an equally vital role, shifting between turbulence and calm, chaos and clarity, mirroring inner landscapes of uncertainty, resilience, and spiritual searching.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Alexander Ketjil Kosasie at an opening ceremony held at Sudakara ArtSpace, marking an important moment in Handi Yasa’s ongoing artistic journey. Curated and written by I Made Susanta Dwitanaya, the exhibition situates Handi’s practice within broader discourses of material memory, relational aesthetics, and contemporary Indonesian art.
Through Cycles & Journeys, Sudakara ArtSpace continues its commitment to presenting thoughtful, process-driven exhibitions that foster dialogue between artists, materials, and audiences, while celebrating Indonesia’s dynamic creative landscape.
