PRESS RELEASE
Indonesia – Sudamala Resorts wishes to inform its valued guests and the wider travel community regarding a recent cybersecurity incident affecting several third-party Online Travel Agency (OTA) platforms, which has led to fraudulent communications being sent to travelers globally, including some guests holding reservations at Sudamala Resorts properties.
The incident did not originate from Sudamala Resorts. The resort group confirms that its own reservation systems, guest databases, and internal communication channels remain fully secure and unaffected.
According to current findings, the fraudulent activity stems from a security breach in third-party OTA systems, where unauthorized individuals gained access to traveler contact information and began impersonating hotels to solicit payments or sensitive personal information. This practice is widely referred to as “reservation hijacking.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to guest safety, transparency, and responsible hospitality practices, Sudamala Resorts is issuing this public advisory to help travelers identify legitimate communications and avoid potential fraud attempts.
“Protecting the trust and security of our guests remains our highest priority,” said I Wayan Suwastana, Commercial Director of Sudamala Resorts. “While this incident originated outside of Sudamala Resorts’ infrastructure, we believe it is important to proactively communicate with our guests and provide clear guidance to ensure safe and secure reservation correspondence.”
Sudamala Resorts would like to emphasize the following:
- Sudamala Resorts’ systems have not been compromised.
- No guest data stored directly within Sudamala Resorts’ systems has been affected.
- The fraudulent communications are linked to a cybersecurity incident involving third-party
- OTA platforms and are not connected to Sudamala Resorts’ internal systems.
- Sudamala Resorts continues to actively monitor the situation and support any guests requiring assistance or verification.
To help guests distinguish legitimate communication, Sudamala Resorts confirms that all reservation-related matters are handled exclusively through the following official channels:
